For the Display visual artist Laurent Malherbe will present a new edition out of the Lech Premium series.

The earliest known writings on architecture are from Vitrivius, a Roman architect, writer and engineer who was born approximately 70 years BC. In his book De Architectura he asserts that a construction must exhibit the three qualities of solidity, usefulness and beauty in equal measures. None of these three qualities firmitas, utilitas and venustas should dominate any of the other two.

None of these assertions are applicable on the works of Malherbe. His architectural structures are made in a rough and sketchy manner and are usually invented there where they will be created and exhibited. Imperfections and temporary makeshifts are staged in...

I'll be at the office on Tuesday is the name of the residency project that independant curator Septembre Tiberghien is initiating at Greylight Projects.

Questioning the material and immaterial relationship between artists, curator and their environment, she will consider the self-sufficient economy of the artist run-space as the starting point of her exploration. Instead of investing a specific space, she will invest a specific time for meeting the residents.

For the third edition of Display in Greylight Projects in Hoensbroek we invited Berndnaut Smilde to show his work Kammerspiele. The installation was shown earlier in the Bonnefanten museum in Maastricht.

Artist Berndnaut is using his daily surroundings and spaces as inspiration, Smilde is interested in the temporal nature of construction and deconstruction. His work refers to both the physical state of a building as well as a moment of revelation that depicts either hope or fragility. Smilde analyses spaces and their appearance and takes them apart to investigate their unique details and features. His artistic point of view often centers on duality. His works question: inside and outside, temporality, size, the function of materials and architectural...

To research the former uses of a building is to question the role of the investigator as the owner of memory's material leftovers. For 6 months Juan Pablo Plazas and Yoel Pytowski worked on a series of sculptural interventions with forgotten elements in one specific room of the building where the Greylight Projects is. During the opening a performance will take place in collaboration with Nathalie Snel as a concluding phase of these interventions.

"How much do we need to dig just to find out that we have dug enough?
How deep do we need to go just to realize we’ve gotten to the middle of nowhere?
What are we trying to discover inside this massive amount of sand?”

For a new edition of the outside billboard on the building of Greylight Projects in Brussels we invited John Ryan Brubaker to present a photograph out of his project Every Path is Viable.

The project Every Path is Viable uses the unpredictable nature of the photographic process to suggest the experience of looking in multiple directions simultaneously. Each image is the result of four exposures, shot from a fixed vantage point, and captured on a single frame of film. The result is then printed across a series of smaller sheets and combined by hand to recreate the final piece.

Each photograph in this series is informed by the unique architecture, culture, language, and visual characteristics of the city in which it was taken. Yet, they are not meant to be...
