Naar aanleiding van haar afstudeerwerk ‘Grob’s Grid – A salute to life’ bij de kunstacademie in Maastricht richting autonome beeldende kunst is Zoef Mashaldina geselecteerd voor de winterresidentie bij Greylight Projects. Mashaldina zal werkzaam zijn op locatie bij Greylight Projects te Heerlen, Nederland in de periode van December tot Februari 2024. In deze drie maanden zal Mashaldina haar artistieke praktijk ontwikkelen.
Ter introductie stelt Zoef Mashaldina zich voor:
“Ik zou mezelf omschrijven als een multidisciplinair kunstenaar, gefocust op het omarmen van het non-lineaire, oftewel het chaotisch denken. Ik dwaal rond in verschillende (mentale, digitale en fysieke) werelden, op zoek naar wat hen verbind, onderscheidt en hoe ze elkaar beïnvloeden. Vanuit deze exploratie wil ik komen tot de creatie van een nieuw domein dat zich situeert binnen deze drie werelden, iets dat de huidige werkelijkheid kan overstijgen. Het is een voortdurende zoektocht van informatie en materie. Hierdoor ben ik momenteel vooral geïnteresseerd in het “samplen” van informatie/beeld/geluid waarin ik fragmenten omzet en samenbreng. Ik word momenteel geïnspireerd door oude culturen, esoterisme, mystieke scenografie en ben eigenlijk, door middel van mijn artistieke praktijk, op zoek naar een essentie.”
(EN) Greylight Projects introduces the artist chosen for the 2023-2024 winter residency: Zoef Mashaldina. Following her graduation work ‘Grob’s Grid – A salute to life’ at the art academy in Maastricht in the direction of Fine arts, Mashaldina has been selected for the winter residency at Greylight Projects. Mashaldina will be working on location at Greylight Projects in Heerlen, the Netherlands in the period from December to February 2024. During these three months, Mashaldina will develop her artistic practice.
“I would describe myself as a multidisciplinary artist, focused on embracing non-linearity, or in other words: chaotic thinking. I meander through various (mental, digital, and physical) realms, seeking to discover their connections, distinctions, and how they influence each other. Through this exploration, I aim to create a new domain that exists within these three worlds, something that can transcend current reality. It’s a continuous quest for information and matter. Currently, I am particularly interested in ‘sampling’ information, images and sounds, a process in which I gather and consolidate fragments. I’m inspired by ancient cultures, esotericism, mystical scenography, and, through my artistic practice, I’m fundamentally searching for essence.”
