De Franse kunstenares Julie Gaubert is de afgelopen maanden de gastkunstenaar in Heerlen. In haar onderzoek richt ze zich op informele communicatienetwerken, zoals lokale clandestiene radiozenders, amateuruitzendingen en verstoorde frequenties waarin gemeenschapsstemmen doorklinken. Daarbij vormt de figuur van de Limburgse piratenzender een interessant vertrekpunt: zowel een populaire anekdote als een plaatsgebonden strategie om dominante structuren te omzeilen en ruimte te creëren voor emancipatie.
Op zaterdag 27 juni geeft ze een guided tour bij haar presenatie waarin ze haar werk en haar tijdens de residentie opgedane ervaringen deelt.
Samen met Brutus (Rotterdam), Drawing Centre (Diepenheim), EKWC (Oisterwijk), Het Lage Noorden (Marrum), NIAS (Amsterdam), Nieuwe Instituut (Rotterdam) en Willem Twee Studios (Den Bosch) doet Greylight Projects mee aan de Nouveau Grand Tour NL, georganiseerd door het Institut français NL.

The French artist Julie Gaubert has been the guest artist in Heerlen over the past few months. In her research, she focuses on informal communication networks, such as local clandestine radio stations, amateur broadcasts, and disrupted frequencies in which community voices resonate. Within this context, the figure of the Limburg pirate radio station provides an interesting point of departure: both a popular anecdote and a locally rooted strategy for bypassing dominant structures and creating space for emancipation.
On Saturday, 27 June, she will give a guided tour of her presentation, during which she will share her work and the experiences she gained during the residency.
