De grond onder onze voeten is meer dan alleen een oppervlak waarop we staan. De deelnemers aan de Borderland Residencies 2023-24 onderzochten de complexe betekenis van het begrip ‘bodem’ tijdens hun werkbezoeken in het grensgebied van Duitsland, Nederland en België. Momenten van collectief artistiek onderzoek gaven aanleiding tot werkimpulsen, waarvan ze de resultaten presenteren in de tentoonstelling SPEAKING SOIL van 10 april tot 2 juni 2024. De tentoonstelling belicht de betekenis van de bodem voor het leven op aarde vanuit verschillende perspectieven: als grondstof, habitat en nationaal territorium, maar ook vanuit het perspectief van eigendom, relocatie, migratie en klimaatverandering. De tentoonstelling is samengesteld door Julika Bosch (artistiek directeur van Sammlung Philara) en Hannah Niemeier (curator).

[EN] The ground beneath our feet is more than just the surface on which we stand. The scholarship holders of the Borderland Residencies 2023-24 got to the bottom of its complex meaning during their field trips in the border region between Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. Moments of collective artistic research gave rise to work impulses, the results of which they will present in the exhibition SPEAKING SOIL from 10 April to 2 June 2024. The exhibition tells of the significance of soil for planetary life from various perspectives: as a resource, habitat and national territory as well as from the perspective of ownership, resettlement, migration and climate change. The exhibition is curated by Julika Bosch (Artistic Director of Sammlung Philara) and Hannah Niemeier (Curator).
