The gardener’s function is regeneration de presentatie van het project van Darcy Neven in de tuin van Greylight Projects. Neven toont een overzicht van haar praktijk met haar mobiele kas (genaamd Het Huis) als middelpunt. De titel van het project is een verwijzing naar Clarissa Pinkola Estés’ Women Who Run with the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman.

Darcy Neven werkt sinds 2012 aan dit project. Ze liep met haar mobiele kas van Maastricht naar Heerlen waar deze te zien was in het Schunck Museum als onderdeel van de tentoonstelling ‘op zoek naar Sharawadgi’ rond het werk van Piet Outdolf.

De mobiliteit van de kas maakt het een centrum om verhalen te verzamelen; Nevens verhalen en die van anderen. Voor de kunstenaar en eco-feminist is tuinieren politiek omdat het een vorm van radicale genezing is door ons te gronden in een actief leven van verbinding met en leren van de wereld in het algemeen.

Grenzend aan de tuin van Greylight Projects, in de kantine, zal de kunstenaar documentatie van haar project en haar keramiek tonen. Darcy Neven zal zaadjes kunnen zaaien om gesprekken te voeren. Voor de kunstenares zijn deze gesprekken een manier om mensen te inspireren om de voedselindustrie te heroverwegen.

De presentatie is het startpunt van haar artist-in-residency; tijdens haar residency zal ze werken in de tuin (een voormalig schoolplein) en in de kantine, waar ze documentatie van haar projecten en verhalen zal omzetten in een verhaal. De residentie loopt tot het einde van het tuinseizoen.

The gardener’s function is regeneration is a project and presentation by Darcy Neven in Greylight Projects’ garden. Neven shows an overview of her practice with her mobile greenhouse Het Huis (i.e. The House) as the centerpiece. The title of the project is a reference to Clarissa Pinkola Estés´ Women Who Run with the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype.

Darcy Neven has been working on this project since 2012. She walked with her mobile greenhouse from Maastricht to Heerlen where it was shown in Schunck Museum as part of the exhibition ‘in search of Sharawadgi’ around the works of Piet Outdolf.

The mobility of the greenhouse makes it a center to gather stories; Neven´s and other people´s stories. For the artist and eco-feminist, gardening is political as it is a form of radical healing by grounding us in an active life of connecting to and learning from the world at large.

Adjacent to Greylight Projects´ garden, in the canteen, the artist will show documentation of her projects and her ceramics. Darcy Neven will be able to sow seeds to have conversations. For the artist, starting these conversations are ways to inspire people to rethink the food industry.

The presentation is the starting point of her artist-in-residency; during her residency she will work in the garden (a former schoolyard) and in the canteen, where she will turn documentation of her projects and stories into a narrative. The residency will run till the end of the gardening season (i.e. autumn).
