[NL] Krista Burger is beeldend kunstenaar en werkt onder de naam Heimprofi. In haar werk zoekt zij graag de verbinding, waardoor zij zich vaak bevindt op het snijvlak van verschillende kunstvormen binnen de hedendaagse kunst. Omdat zij in haar praktijk regelmatig samenwerkt met uiteenlopende mensen op diverse locaties, is de relatie met de omgeving een steeds belangrijker aspect van haar werk geworden. Gaandeweg is zij zich meer en meer gaan richten op de openbare ruimte, die steeds vaker haar werk- en presentatieruimte vormt. De focus ligt daarbij op het werken met gevonden materialen. De ontstane werken zijn daardoor locatie gebonden en gaan een directe relatie aan met de plek waarin zij zich bevinden.
Heimprofi verandert een ogenschijnlijk ‘niet-gebied’ tot een van locaties in een bestemming, of zelfs een territorium of land. Een soort “Ik ben hier geweest”, een bergbeklimmersgeste of moment van toe-eigening. Tijdens een zwervende reis werkt Heimprofi hier en daar samen, soms toevallig maar ook minder toevallig. Tijdens Project Doubt neemt Heimprofi de tijd om stil te staan bij die bewegingen.
Ook heeft kunstenaar Heimprofi de billboards van Greylight Projects tot haar beschikking voor twee van haar projecten, genaamd: Project Doubt (Limaweg 3) en NOTHING TO SEE HERE (Schaesbergerweg 58). Beide billboard projecten zijn te bekijken tot en met december en worden door de kunstenaar iedere week opnieuw beschilderd.
De beschildering aan de Limaweg 3 is gebaseerd op wat haar op dat moment bezighoudt: in haar praktijk is dat meestal gebaseerd op toeval, vandaar de naam Project Doubt. Hieronder lees je meer over de inhoud:
Project Doubt is een reeks van bewegingen, ook wel toevalligheden, die op onverwachte momenten een richting aannemen. Deze richting ontstaat door de houding die Heimprofi aanneemt in haar praktijk. Tijdens de zwervende reis waarin ze deze toevalligheden toelaat, werkt ze samen met de mensen die ze tegenkomt en gebruikt ze het materiaal dat ze vindt in de omgeving. Zo zijn de omgeving, het materiaal en de mensen de factoren die haar praktijk vormen en ervoor zorgen dat haar praktijk veranderlijk is en blijft.
Tijdens haar residentie bepalen onverwachte ontmoetingen de inhoud van haar werk. Een drijvende toestand tussen keuzes en niet keuzes waar op de juiste momenten de roeispanen ter hand worden genomen om een beweging in een (niet) voorbestemde richting te nemen. De reactie op wat ze tegenkomt “verwijst naar de aard van de overdracht of uitwisseling van energie en informatie in het algemeen”, zoals ze zelf omschrijft.
Heimprofi: “Deze spontane manier van werken en het gebruik van alle technieken en middelen die voorhanden zijn, weerhoudt mij ervan om tijdens mijn residentie een strak projectplan te volgen. Greylight Projectss biedt een interessante uitgangspositie vanwege mijn langdurige band met Duitsland en mijn behoefte om meer in contact te met kunstenaars uit het zuiden van Nederland. De verkenning van de Euregio tussen Venlo en Heerlen en Münster en Aken, maar ook richting België, zoals Eupen en Luik, heeft voor mij een grote aantrekkingskracht, mede vanwege de industriële geschiedenis van het gebied.”
Heimprofi: “Begin 2024 heb ik het gebied al verkend tijdens een roadtrip tussen Vise en Thonvile waarbij ik meerdere werken in de openbare ruimte heb gerealiseerd. Het voordeel van een professionele praktijk die zich over een langere tijd uitstrekt, is dat je vertrouwd raakt met een geografisch gebied dat voortdurend groter wordt. Ik kijk ernaar uit om dit gebied tijdens mijn verblijf bij Greylight verder te verkennen en het als mijn werkterrein te kunnen gebruiken.”
Op 1 November organiseert Heimprofi een Artist Talk en Workshop bij Greylight projects, als onderdeel van haar Borderland residentie.

Gradually, she has begun to focus more and more on public space, which increasingly forms her working and presentation space. The focus is often on working with found materials. The resulting works are therefore often location-specific and enter into a direct relationship with the place in which they are located. Heimprofi transforms a seemingly “non-area” into one of the locations in a destination, or even a territory or country. A kind of “I’ve been here”, a mountaineer’s gesture or moment of appropriation. During a wandering journey, Heimprofi collaborates here and there, sometimes by chance but also less by chance. During Project Doubt, Heimprofi takes the time to reflect on those movements.
Artist Heimprofi also has Greylight Projects’ billboards at her disposal for two of her projects, called Project Doubt (Limaweg 3) and NOTHING TO SEE HERE (Schaesbergerweg 58). Project Doubt is a series of movements, or coincidences, that take a direction at unexpected moments. This direction arises from the attitude that Heimprofi adopts in her practice. During the wandering journey in which she allows these coincidences to happen, she collaborates with the people she encounters and uses the materials she finds in the environment. Thus, the environment, the materials and the people are the factors that shape her practice and ensure that it is and remains changeable.
During her residency, unexpected encounters determine the content of her work. A floating state between choices and non-choices, where at the right moments the oars are taken in hand to move in a (non) predetermined direction. The reaction to what she encounters ‘refers to the nature of the transfer or exchange of energy and information in general,’ as she herself describes it.
Heimprofi: “This spontaneous way of working and the use of all available techniques and resources prevents me from following a strict project plan during my residency. Greylight Projects offers an interesting starting point because of my long-standing connection with Germany and my desire to get more in touch with artists from the south of the Netherlands. Exploring the Euregio between Venlo and Heerlen and Münster and Aachen, but also towards Belgium, such as Eupen and Liège, is very appealing to me, partly because of the industrial history of the area.”
Heimprofi: “At the beginning of 2024, I explored the area during a road trip between Vise and Thonvile, where I created several works in public spaces. The advantage of a professional practice that extends over a longer period of time is that you become familiar with a geographical area that is constantly expanding. I look forward to exploring this area further during my stay at Greylight and being able to use it as my field of work.”
