De nieuwe gastkunstenaar voor de residentieperiode bij Greylight Projects in samenwerking met het schrit_tmacher Festival is bekend. Tijdens deze residentie bundelen Greylight Projects en schrit_tmacher Festival hun krachten om de relatie tussen beeldende kunst en dans verder te verkennen.
De residentie biedt ruimte aan onderzoekende artistieke praktijk die een reflectieve en inhoudelijke bijdrage levert aan het festivalprogramma. De geselecteerde kunstenaar presenteert haar praktijk tijdens het festival en verbindt haar onderzoek met een breder discours rond beweging, lichaam en ruimte.
De open oproep is inmiddels gesloten en de maar liefst 130 inzendingen waren van uitzonderlijk hoge kwaliteit. Uit alle inzendingen kwam unaniem één naam naar voren: Yoojin Lee. Zij zal begin 2026 haar residentie bij ons starten en deel uitmaken van deze inspirerende samenwerking.
Het werk ‘slowth (habitats) (yet)’ van de kunstenaar Yoojin Lee laat een opmerkelijke diepgang zien in het onderzoeken van tijd en relaties. De jury, bestaande uit Janneke Schmeitz (schrit_tmacher), Joost Seger (Via Zuid) en Germaine Sijstermans (Greylight Projects), waardeert hoe de kunstenaar een tegenwicht biedt aan de door kapitalisme opgedrongen versnelling van het dagelijks leven door aandacht te schenken aan trage processen en het belichaamd ervaren van tijd. Tegelijkertijd toont het project een scherp inzicht in interdependentie en symbiose: de verwevenheid van lichamen, materialen, geluiden en micro-organismen creëert een subtiel ecosysteem waarin alles met alles in relatie staat. Het resultaat is een poëtisch en doordacht onderzoek naar hoe we tijd, zorg en wederkerigheid kunnen beleven, met een sterke maatschappelijke en ecologische relevantie.
Yoojin Lee opereert op het snijvlak van performance, installatie, tekst, geluid en video. In haar praktijk onderzoekt ze manieren van worden en weten, waarbij ze aandacht heeft voor stille, minder opvallende maar aanhoudende vormen van verzet en verbondenheid. Deze ontvouwen zich via meerdere temporaliteiten – zoals slaap, luiheid en traagheid – die ze inzet als methoden om te luisteren, te resoneren en te belichamen. Lee woont en werkt in Londen.
Yoojin Lee begint haar residentie begin januari 2026 en zal op zaterdag 28 februari een introductie geven. Op zaterdag 28 maart, het laatste weekend van het festival, zal Lee haar eindpresentatie geven. De talk en de eindpresentatie zijn bij Greylight Projects

[EN] The new guest artist for the residency period at Greylight Projects, in collaboration with the schrit_tmacher Festival, has been announced. During this residency, Greylight Projects and schrit_tmacher Festival are joining forces to further explore the relationship between visual arts and dance.
The residency offers space for exploratory artistic practice that makes a reflective and substantive contribution to the festival program. The selected artist will present her practice during the festival and connect her research to a broader discourse on movement, body, and space.
The open call is now closed, and the 130 submissions were of exceptionally high quality. One name emerged unanimously from all the submissions: Yoojin Lee. She will start her residency with us next year and be part of this inspiring collaboration.
The work ‘slowth (habitats) (yet)’ by artist Yoojin Lee demonstrates remarkable depth in its exploration of time and relationships. At the same time, the project demonstrates a keen insight into interdependence and symbiosis: the intertwining of bodies, materials, sounds, and microorganisms creates a subtle ecosystem in which everything is connected. The result is a poetic and thoughtful exploration of how we can experience time, care, and reciprocity, with strong social and ecological relevance.
Yoojin Lee operates at the intersection of performance, installation, text, sound, and video. In her practice, she explores ways of becoming and knowing, paying attention to quiet, less conspicuous but persistent forms of resistance and connection. These unfold through multiple temporalities—such as sleep, laziness, and slowness—which she uses as methods for listening, resonating, and embodying. Lee lives and works in London.
Yoojin Lee will begin her residency in early January 2026 and will give an introduction on Saturday, February 28. On Saturday, March 28, the last weekend of the festival, Lee will give her final presentation. The talk and final presentation will take place at Greylight Projects.
