Het project ‘slowth (habitats) (yet)’ van de kunstenaar Yoojin Lee biedt een opmerkelijke diepgang in het onderzoeken van tijd en relaties. Het project kan gezien worden als tegenwicht tegen de door het kapitalisme opgelegde versnelling van het dagelijks leven door aandacht te schenken aan trage processen en het belichaamd ervaren van tijd.
Het project geeft inzicht in interdependentie en symbiose: de verwevenheid van lichamen, materialen, geluiden en micro-organismen creëert een subtiel ecosysteem waarin alles met alles in relatie staat. Het resultaat is een poëtisch en doordacht onderzoek naar hoe we tijd, zorg en wederkerigheid kunnen beleven, met een duidelijke maatschappelijke en ecologische relevantie.
Yoojin Lee werkt op het snijvlak van performance, installatie, tekst, geluid en video. In haar werk onderzoekt zij hoe tijd wordt ervaren en belichaamd, en hoe trage processen — zoals rust, slaap en luiheid — kunnen functioneren als vormen van aandacht, zorg en subtiel verzet.
Deze installatie in het PLT theater is een voorbode op Yoojin Lee’s eindwerk bij Greylight Projects, waar zij sinds januari 2026 als gastkunstenaar werkt in haar atelier in Heerlen, en maakt onderdeel uit van het schrit_tmacher Festival 2026.

The project ‘slowth (habitats) (yet)’ by the artist Yoojin Lee offers a remarkable depth in exploring time and relationships. The project can be seen as a counterbalance to the acceleration of daily life imposed by capitalism, by paying attention to slow processes and the embodied experience of time.
At the same time, the project demonstrates a keen understanding of interdependence and symbiosis: the interweaving of bodies, materials, sounds, and microorganisms creates a subtle ecosystem in which everything relates to everything else. The result is a poetic and thoughtful exploration of how we can experience time, care, and reciprocity, with clear social and ecological relevance.
Yoojin Lee works at the intersection of performance, installation, text, sound, and video. In her work, she investigates how time is experienced and embodied, and how slow processes — such as rest, sleep, and idleness — can function as forms of attention, care, and subtle resistance.
This installation at the PLT Theater serves as a foretaste of Yoojin Lee’s final project at Greylight Projects, where she has been working as a guest artist in her studio in Heerlen since January 2026, and is part of the schrit_tmacher Festival 2026.
