Kunstenaars Tianyi Zheng, Eliisa Loukola, Ida Leijting en Lena Longefay ontmoetten elkaar in 2022 via het Apprentice/Master programma georganiseerd door Kunstpodium T.  Kunstpodium T is een organisatie voor talentontwikkeling voor beginnende kunstenaars, gelegen in Tilburg. Jaarlijks verzorgen zij een programma waarin startende kunstenaars in groepen gekoppeld worden aan ervaren kunstenaars. Via het creëren van een eindexpositie kunnen de kunstenaars de zogenoemde ‘Jan Naaijkensprijs’ winnen, als onderdeel van deze prijs mogen ze een expositie samenstellen. Deze expositie is bij Greylight Projects en maakt deel uit van de Jan Naaijkensprijs die zij ontvingen voor hun werk tijdens deelname aan het programma van Kunstpodium T.

Elk van de kunstenaars presenteren tijdens de expositie recente werken, van video tot sculpturen. Hierin komt naar voren hoe zij als groep een dynamisch onderzoek uitvoeren naar kruisingen tussen natuur, erfgoed, collectiviteit en vriendschap. 

Hun gezamenlijke kunstenaars praktijk houdt zich bezig met onderwerpen als saamhorigheid en samenwerking. Die praktijk uit zich incidenteel als ‘the Department of Collective Collaboration’. Dit is een platform dat de conventionele perceptie van creatieve instellingen wil uitdagen en het idee van collectieve creativiteit opnieuw wil definiëren. Ze doen dit voornamelijk vanuit de kortstondige tussenruimtes die ontstaan op de werkplek. 

Openingsevenement

Op 30 augustus is het openingsevenement om 18:00 uur van deze expositie, ook zal kunstenaar Lena Longefay om 19:00 een kleine wijnproeverij organiseren. Lena Longefay, een beeldend kunstenaar uit de wijnstreek Beaujolais in Frankrijk, combineert wijnproeven met kunst in haar performances. Haar aankomende performance verkent de traditie en de realiteit van het Limburgse wijnlandschap door middel van wijnproeverijen en artistieke expressies.

Artists Tianyi Zheng, Eliisa Loukola, Ida Leijting and Lena Longefay met in 2022 through the Apprentice/Master programme organised by Kunstpodium T. Kunstpodium T is a talent development organisation for beginning artists, located in Tilburg. Annually, they provide a programme in which budding artists are paired in groups with experienced artists. By creating a final exhibition, the artists can win the so-called ‘Jan Naaijkens Prize’, as part of which they get to put together an exhibition. This exhibition will be at Greylight Projects and is part of the Jan Naaijkens Prize they received for their work while participating in the Kunstpodium T programme.

Each of the artists will present recent works during the exhibition, from video to sculptures. These will show how, as a group, they carry out a dynamic investigation into intersections between nature, heritage, collectivity and friendship.

Their joint artist practice deals with issues of belonging and collaboration. That practice expresses itself incidentally as ‘the Department of Collective Collaboration’. This is a platform that seeks to challenge conventional perceptions of creative institutions and redefine the idea of collective creativity. They do this mainly from the brief in-between spaces created in the workplace.

Opening event

On 30 August, the opening event is at 18:00 for this exhibition, artist Lena Longefay will also host a small wine tasting at 19:00. Lena Longefay, a visual artist from the Beaujolais wine region in France, combines wine tasting with art in her performances. Her upcoming performance explores the tradition and reality of the Limburg wine landscape through wine tasting and artistic expressions.
