slowth (habitats) (yet) is een participatieve performatieve installatie die zich langzaam vormt door aanwezigheid, tijd en kleine gebaren.

De afgelopen maanden werkte Yoojin Lee als Artist in Residence bij Greylight Projects in het kader van het schrit_tmacher festival. Tijdens deze residentie heeft zij verder gewerkt aan slowth (habitats) (yet) als reflectie op thema’s die binnen het schrit_tmacher festival worden aangeraakt.

Tijdens de gezamenlijke repetitie van slowth (habitats) (yet) werden de aanwezigen uitgenodigd om deel te nemen aan kleine, eenvoudige gebaren. Deelname was volledig vrijwillig – observeren, luisteren en zelfs ademen waren ook manieren om deel te nemen. Deelnemers leverden een metabolische bijdrage. Ze waren vrij om zo lang of zo kort te blijven als ze wilden, en om te vertrekken en terug te komen. slowth (habitats) (yet) bleef veranderen door deze gedeelde praktijken van het bewonen van tijd.

slowth (habitats) (yet) is geen eenmalige gebeurtenis, maar een gelaagde reeks sporen van interacties en duur. Het verzamelt stof, deeltjes, ademhaling en organische sporen. Het corrodeert, vergaat en vervaagt ook.

In recent months, Yoojin Lee worked as an Artist in Residence at Greylight Projects as part of the schrit_tmacher festival. During this residency, she further developed slowth (habitats) (yet) as a reflection on themes addressed within the schrit_tmacher festival.

During the collective rehearsal of slowth (habitats) (yet), those present were invited to participate in small, simple gestures. Participation was entirely voluntary – observing, listening, and even breathing were also ways of participating. Participants made a metabolic contribution. They were free to stay for as long or as short as they wished, and to leave and return. slowth (habitats) (yet) continued to change through these shared practices of inhabiting time.

slowth (habitats) (yet) is not a one-time event, but a layered accumulation of traces of interaction and duration. It gathers dust, particles, breath, and organic residues. It also corrodes, decays, and fades.

This iteration of slowth (habitats) (yet) includes sounds by Yoojin Lee and Giuseppe Termine. These were supported in part by TUO TUO, an ecologically-focused project space and artist residency in Joutsa, Finland.
