You are very welcome to the open studios of the resident artists chosen for the 2023 Very Contemporary Performing Landscapes residency: Stefania Crișan and Isolde Venrooy. Greylight Projects collaborates for this project with IKOB – Museum für Zeitgenössische Kunst (Eupen, Belgium) for this residency and the two artists will be part of Performing Landscapes in and around IKOB September 2, 2023, which is a collaboration between the different institutions of the Very Contemporary network.

Stefania Crișan and Isolde Venrooy were selected by Brenda Guesnet (conservator IKOB museum, Eupen), Guus van Engelshoven (conservator museum Het Nieuwe Domein, Sittard) and Roy Voragen (curator, Greylight Projects) for a residency and for the past three months they lived and worked at Greylight Projects.

During the open studios, June 10 and 11 (from 1 to 5pm), the artists will be present and show their research and works-in-progress for the Performing Landscapes festival.

On Friday 9th of June there is from 18:00-20:00 the preview / opening of the open studio weekend. You are very welcome to join us and have a drink with the artists!

Isolde Venrooy (living and working in Nijmegen, the Netherlands; isoldevenrooy.com) is a visual artist. She studied drawing and painting, attained a Master’s degree in European Arts and Cultures at the Academie voor Beeldende Vorming Tilburg, and graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven, where she studied Man and Communication. Her artistic practice consists of objects, interventions, performative walks and workshops. Her work has been exhibited at TENT Rotterdam, Zone2Source Amsterdam and De Fabriek Eindhoven. Her practice continues to evolve through residencies, such as at the European Ceramic Work Centre (2021), Greylight Projects and IKOB Museum für Zeitgenössische Kunst (2023).

Stefania Crișan (born in Romenia but living and working in Metz, France; instagram.com/stefania___crisan) is interested in themes connected to the Anthropocene, questioning the paradoxes between the horror and the beauty of catastrophe. Her practice is marked by a landscape that was devastated through ecological disaster, i.e. the village of Geamăna in Romania, deliberately flooded in the 1970s and turned into a settling pond for copper mining activities. Crișan is the winner of the 2022 Luxembourg Encouragement for Artists Prize (LEAP) and has exhibited at FRAC Lorraine, Casino Luxembourg, Stadtgalerie Saarbrücken and Centre Pompidou-Metz.
